The lesson here is to be honest with your background.  When you attend a minor league tryout or independent baseball tryout be sure to have authentic documentation.

As you can see, backlash from lying makes national news - so be honest and forthcoming when you are attempting to make any professional baseball team.  All you have to do is go back to the Danny Almonte Little League story in order to understand what lying about one’s age can do.
